Tristan Meers (Heusden-Zolder, 2003) is a Belgian visual artist who works with the medium of photography. His work speaks about urbanization, where and how people settle and the mysteries that come with it.
Since childhood, Tristan has been fascinated by capturing the world through a lens. After obtaining a diploma in Audiovisual Arts from the Atlas College in Genk, he continued his studies in the Academic Bachelor of Visual Arts Photography at LUCA School of Arts campus C-mine, BE.
Tristan Meers is involved in both documentary and staged photography. Within his photographic visual language, the lines are very dominant and the subjects are very tightly and carefully framed. He mainly photographs at night, which gives him the opportunity to use a bright light-dark contrast. He also applies an often surreal color palette to better translate the mysterious and sometimes surreal feeling he wants to convey.
In 2023, Tristan Meers' series 'la maison d'en face' won first prize at the International Photography Awards in the non-professional night photography category. After which he also took second place at De Donkere Kamer #30. One of his photos was part of the International Photography Awards - Best of Show Exhibition in New York City, Shenzhen, Ostuni, Budapest, Kashan and Athens. His work 'la maison d'en face' was also exhibited in the library of LUCA School of Arts Campus C-mine.
